Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation – a time to quit the Church or an opportunity to renew and deepen faith?

Abstract

The Sacrament of Confirmation, one of the sacraments of Christian initiation, requires preparation, which takes into account formation in the community (parish) and leads to a full life in Christ, and not only to the reception of the sacrament itself. The conducted research, based on the method of an in-depth interview, revealed that in order to effectively use the time of preparation for Confirmation, the following proposals should be introduced. Meetings should be held in a group and include kerygmatic content and celebrations. Participation in small "sharing groups" and retreats is necessary. A concrete and clear form of verification of attendance is also important, while the age of the candidate is not as important, though high school groups are recommended.
