Accompanying the catechists during a pandemic
Keywords:
catechesis, pandemics, stress, tasks of catechistsAbstract
Until a few years ago, none of the educators could have foreseen that we would face a pandemic and the enormous stresses that the pandemic leads to. Especially children and adolescents experience with great anxiety the fact that a loved one is seriously ill or dies, that it is impossible to go to school or go on vacation or meet with peers. This situation also poses new challenges to catechists. Catechesis is now a place where the Church can also reach those children and teenagers who do not go to church or who only rarely attend the Eucharist. Faced with the limitations of stress and the pandemic, the pupils need greater understanding and support in catechesis. Such support means, above all, helping the pupils to protect their freedom and to grow in wisdom and love.
