Should one demand anything of education?

An educator is more of a witness than a teacher, as pupils respond more to good example than to the words and declarations of adults. Responsible educators demand of themselves such behaviour as complies with the principles and values they teach, they propose the optimal way of life for their pupils, denounce dangers, show trust towards those who act nobly and motivate to change those who harm themselves or cannot defend themselves in the face of wrong-doers. They demand of other adults to cooperate with them in the process of education and that they should never hurt pupils. They also place definite demands before pupils, as they know that education is not molly coddling or acquiescence to evil. An educator imitates Jesus who loves best and for this reason places the greatest demands: He wishes that we become like Him and possess such love as the one He first loved us.
